ServiceNow Architect

PRIMARY PURPOSE ServiceNow Architecture, Technical Best Practices and Standards, and resource manager for all ServiceNow technical consultants. Leading technical initiatives for both internal and external ServiceNow clients in addition to maintaining technical consistency across the organization and providing enterprise-level solutions with technical leadership throughout the lifecycle from pre-sales through go-live.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Technical Management
  2. Client satisfaction on the technical dimensions of ServiceNow application
  3. High-quality, on-time, on-budget delivery of steady-state technical functions, work products, and Technical Management.
  4. Manage the overall technical health of the enterprise ServiceNow instances, including managing initiatives to reduce Technical Debt
  5. Monitor technical performance and identify remediation steps, opportunities for improvement.
  6. Manage technical program risk, including definition, analysis, mitigation strategies and implementation.
  7. Contribute to architectural and technical perspective to optimization initiatives and technical roadmaps
  8. Architect, test, document, and promulgate new technical approaches to challenging technical problems.
  9. Define and oversee implementation of the steady-state processes for the technical team including work products, templates and libraries, follow standards, release criteria, and established release calendar.
  10. Drive steady-state technical teams to continuous improvement to processes and development.
  11. Own some SDLC activities, defining stories, UAC, configuration, development, and architecture reviews. 
  12. Submit management reports to steady-state contractor and ESM administration on the health of the overall technical application, performance, backlog, agency implementations, work products, and processes.
  13. ServiceNow Relationship
  14. Manage ServiceNow technical relationship; manage ServiceNow tickets on behalf of the state.

Standards and Architecture

  • Develop and update Enterprise ServiceNow
  • Architectural

  • Best Practices

Prepare, update, review, and ensure currency of Architecture Documentation.

  • Review all proposed architectural changes
  • Customizations
  • Define and track customizations for the enterprise instances (anytime scripting involved, any table extensions, ACLs
  • Environments and Releases
  • Oversees the technical environment definition / setup and code migration activities across releases including access and instance management.
  • People
  • Collaborate with all members of the ESM Administration and Contractor Lead.
  • Serves as the ambassador for the program.
  • Escalates issues to the steady-state Project Manager, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred)
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist in three (3) areas (preferred)
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (preferred)
  • ServiceNow Suite Certifications in two (2) areas (preferred)
  • ITIL V3 or V4 Foundations Certification (preferred)

Experience

Minimum of eight (8) years experience in an Information Services environment, minimum of four (4) years in ServiceNow development, minimum of two (2) years in ServiceNow architecture, minimum of four (4) years in ServiceNow consultative engagement technical ownership, development experience or oversight in at least forty (30) implementations, minimum of one (1) year management experience, technical experience in enterprise-level solution design,

  • Ability to manage, work with, and support technical consultants
  • Desire to reach out and assist with solution design and critical thought with project teams
  • Complete understanding of ServiceNow architecture
  • Ability to architect and design scalable and maintainable solutions to customers ad-hoc
  • Ability to critically think through overall solution and document the hierarchy and architecture
  • Enterprise-level solution designing capabilities
  • Ability to lead technical consultants / developers throughout the duration of an engagement
  • Ability to provide best practice leadership and adaptation to a technical team
  • Excellent solution-designing capabilities
  • Ability to conduct technical workshops and compile, construct, and deliver business-centric solutions
  • Understanding of ServiceNow functionality and how ITIL processes can be automated in ServiceNow
  • Understanding of COBIT, CSDM, NIST and other industry specific frameworks adopted with the ServiceNow platform
  • Ability to configure & customize to meet business goals and objectives
  • Development experience with a service-oriented architecture
  • Deep knowledge of JavaScript with an understanding of XML, JavaScript Libraries (AngularJS), and HTTP
  • Experience creating and promoting ServiceNow update sets
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly, knowledgeably, and personably
  • Ability to comprehensively analyze problems and apply critical thinking to derive a resolution
  • Experience in customer service, skills and committed to meeting expectations of all customers
  • Ability to acquire new skills quickly and learn on the job
  • Strong desire to innovate, flexibility with minimal context-switching
  • Strong collaboration and team-building skills and a commitment to continuous service improvement

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is 5 days on site in Columbus Ohio.
