The Star Seven Six “Star Protégé” Internship Program’s goal is to provide a challenging, interesting, and real-world environment for our interns to learnabout the corporate landscape, educate them on the technology consulting industry, encourage them to achieve their goals and help develop their professional skills. As a Star Protégé you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in meaningful projects and gain hands-on experience in the various fields of a fast-paced IT solutions company. You’ll work hard, collaborate and gain skills that will allow you to take on the business world.

The IT Service Desk Intern is a support representative for our internal staff and external customers focused on technical support issues. The goal is to support, educate and train office employees with applications and technology to diminish recurring future support requests and make each employee feel well supported and comfortable with technology.

  • Work with various IT team members including Systems Administrators and other experienced professionals to identify and escalate complex problems
  • Ability to learn and train on various industry-leading technology platforms
  • Provides support to customers requiring assistance on user questions; handles basic to moderately complex issues
  • Address a full range of customer needs, including troubleshooting, technical assistance, system usage support, password resets, documenting installation, etc.
  • Respond to initial phone calls in a fast paced, non-routine help desk environment
  • Document each customer incident in the ticket tracking system in a clear, concise, and understandable format
  • Educate and train end users on applications and technology to diminish recurring future support requests
  • Researches and resolves customer calls that require follow-up
  • Performs initial problem management initiation/ coordination
  • Maintain accountability for incidents until resolved
  • Monitor assigned incidents to ensure adequate and timely resolution
  • Ability to manage time and work schedule in a Teleworker environment
  • Occasional office visits to build end user equipment
  • Occasional client site visits to learn hands-on and provide deskside support for end users
  • Ability to work within a team and assist fellow team members
  • Proficient in Windows and MAC OS

Education & Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Pursuing a 2-year or 4-year college degree in Information Technology or a related major
  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Standing
  • Basic knowledge of IT field
  • Desire and willingness to learn new technologies and applications quickly
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive working attitude, contributing as an individual and team member to accomplish goals
  • Strong analytical skills, decisiveness, and sound judgment
  • Knowledge of current and evolving information technologies, such as telecommunications, cloud solutions, electronic data distribution networks and endpoints
